Info | Joshua Peters is the third of five children and the older of the two males in his family. His life journey started in Saint Louis, Missouri, and reached Saint Paul, Minnesota, before his family returned to Saint Louis. He came to the forefront during his years in William Beaumont High School in Saint Louis.
He is a beneficiary of the success of the “Gear Up Saint Louis” program, where he served as President during the 2003 – 2004 School Year. As a member of the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. (JROTC), he attained the rank of Sergeant. He served as a member of the William Beaumont High School Principal Advisory Board during the 2005 – 2006 School Year, during which time he founded the Dignitary Committee. His service as Spokesperson for the graduating Class of 2006 provided a glimpse of a possibility that could be realized in his future.
Mr. Peters is the recipient of three Resolutions issued by General Assembly of the Missouri House of Representatives, and a Proclamation presented by Member of Congress, U.S. Representative William Lacy Clay, Jr of Missouri’s 1st Congressional District
Mr. Peters’ interest in politics is the direct result of his 2005 service as a (summer) Congressional Intern in the Saint Louis City office of Congressman Clay. He was so moved by the experience that he continued to volunteer in the office as a Staff Aide until he entered his freshman year in Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
In his freshman year in Lincoln University, Joshua served as Vice President of the Freshman class. This office granted him a position as a Student Government Association Senator. He says he receives satisfaction from listening to constituent concerns and drafting, presenting, and supporting legislation to address them. In his senior year, Joshua served as the 75th President of the Student Government Association (SGA), representing over 4,500 students and managing a budget of $1,000.000.00. Prior to serving as President, Mr. Peters held the position of Vice President of the Student Government Association as well Cheif Justice of the Student Suprme Court.
Joshua is a grateful recipient of a 2007 Congressional Black Caucus Scholarship, which will benefit him in the 2007 – 2009 Academic School Year.
Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science Degrees in Political Sciences from Lincoln University. He believes success is his for the taking. Currently Joshua serves as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman William Lacy Clay Jr.
