InfoMichel Gaudette is a native of Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu and grew up on the family farm. He has a law degree from Laval University and studied for his Master’s degree in political science (international relations) at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.

Mr. Gaudette has been involved in the community since the mid-1970s. His professional and personal development have been strongly influenced by public service and his passion for the world of politics. He was director of staff to Claude Ryan, then leader of the Official Opposition at the National Assembly, and president of the Quebec Corporation of Municipal Secretaries. He has been involved in real estate since 1984 and also practises law in Saint-Hyacinthe offering mediation services.

Generous and always ready to serve, Mr. Gaudette has dedicated countless hours to working for various causes in the region affecting economic, sporting and community issues.

Mr. Gaudette is a visionary. He was secretary treasurer and presided over the foundation of the Maskoutains MRC in 1982. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1976, of the Saint-Hyacinthe chamber of commerce since 1988, a member of the ‘La Mie’ food bank since 2000, and president of the Quebec senior major hockey league since 2000.

He has been a Liberal activist for 35 years. He is first and foremost a family man. He and his wife Joane have two children.
