| Info | State Representative Anthony D'Amelio was first elected to represent the 71st Assembly District in the House of Representatives in a special election held on January 23, 1996 and was reelected in November of 1996, 1998, 2000 and again in 2002.
Representative D�Amelio serves on the General Assembly�s Appropriations Committee, the committee charged with formulating the state budget. D�Amelio also serves on the legislature�s Banks Committee, and was recently appointed to serve as the Ranking Republican Member of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee by House Minority Leader Robert M. Ward.
Representative D�Amelio is committed to rebuilding Connecticut�s urban areas. He has been successful in securing state funding for improvement projects that especially benefit children and families, like school playground improvements and aid to the Brooklyn neighborhood for recreational improvements.
A lifelong resident of the City of Waterbury, Representative D'Amelio served on the Waterbury Board of Education from 1989-1993, and has served two terms on the Waterbury Board of Alderman.
During his terms on the Board of Alderman, D'Amelio served on the Tax, Public Safety and Youth Committees, and also served on the Fire Board. As a member of the both the school and aldermanic boards, Representative D'Amelio earned a reputation as a defender of taxpayers' interests.
Representative D'Amelio attended Waterbury public schools and is co-owner of Paisano's Restaurant and Bar in the East End of Waterbury. In addition, he is a licensed Realtor with The Covino Agency. He is a member of both the Greater Waterbury Board of Realtors and the Connecticut Board of Realtors.
Representative D'Amelio is a past member of the Board of Directors of the East End Community Club; a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Holy Name Society; a former member of the Ways and Means Committee of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and is a current member of the school's Bylaws Committee. He is a member of Concerned Taxpayers of Waterbury and the Town Plot Neighborhood Association.
Representative D'Amelio and his wife, Joanne Cavallo D'Amelio, have three children, DeAnna, Krista and Anthony, Jr.
