| Info | Luigi was born on April 23, 1958 in Caracas, Venezuela to Italian parents who had emigrated there in search of a better life. He was educated in the public school system of Caracas. After completing high school, he accepted a position with General Motors Corporation where he earned money to pay his way through college. In 1982, Luigi graduated from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Venezuela where he earned a degree in accounting. Upon graduation, Luigi married his college sweetheart, Graciela. They have been married for thirty years and they have two children—Alexander and Maria Lorena who are now married and have blessed them with two wonderful grandchildren.
In 1983, he opened his first company in Caracas, TMC-The Magic Computer. In 1989, Luigi made the decision to move to the United States and expand his business. He and his family settled in Doral, Florida where Luigi opened his second company TWC-The Wise Computer. Twenty-three years later, TWC employs more than thirty people in Doral. Three years ago, Luigi continued his expansion by opening his third company TMC-The Magic Computer in Colombia.
The Borias have resided in Doral for over twenty-three years. It is here that they have raised their children and built their business. For them, Doral will always be home. Luigi is a current City of Doral Councilmember and it is his deep love for the City that has prompted him to run for mayor of Doral. Though Luigi served on the board of his homeowners association for five years, the last three as president, he never considered himself a professional politician. “In fact when I decided to run, my friends and family thought I was crazy. I have a strong conviction and desire to give something back to this city, which has given so much to me and to my family; I decided public service was the answer”, states Luigi.
Doral is a vibrant, growing city. Luigi is confident that his experience as a business owner and an accountant will be valuable to the city as Doral heads into the next decade. He has identified three areas that he would like to focus on as a mayor. First he would like to ease traffic with low cost solutions to our taxpayers. This can be accomplished by meeting with different department heads of transportation committees. Secondly, he understands that raising property tax is NOT an option. Moreover, he wants to make sure that our community is safe from crime.
