Elected State Representative for the 34th House District in November, 1998. Serves as House Chair of the Regulations Review Committee and is a member of the Select Committee on Children, Finance and Judiciary Committees. Democrat.

Attorney in private practice since 1979. Currently a partner in Law Offices of Friel & Hamm. Emphasis on family law and juvenile justice.

Legislative Liaison - Connecticut General Assembly for the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, 1986-1990. Responsible for the development, advocacy and implementation of legislative agenda that would improve the lives of women and families.

Norwalk Mayor William Collins asked me to Create a local City Commission on the Status Of Women - I developed the organizational structure and list of potential appointees.

Passage of Connecticut's Family and Medical Leave Act - I had the responsibility to manage the bill through the legislature.
