Info | In 1978 Debbie Ossiander and her husband, Jay, moved to the Birchwood area of Chugiak. They raised their three children in the home they built there. She has held leadership positions in many local community organizations including the Chugiak/Eagle River Foundation, the Chugiak Area Benefit Association, Anchorage Youth Court, her local church and the Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce. She was elected four times to the Anchorage School Board, serving from 1992 to 2003. She served three terms as the School Board's president, also chairing the legislative and policy committees for that body. She is past president of the Association of Alaska School Boards. Debbie graduated from the University of Washington in 1973 and worked in local hospitals for many years as a registered respiratory therapist. She was first elected to the Anchorage Assembly in 2004 and represents the military bases, Chugiak, Eagle River and a portion of Muldoon.
