John Graves is a fifth-generation East Texan. He grew up and lives in our Congressional District. After graduating from Hallsville High School, he worked his way through Kilgore College and the University of Texas at Tyler (BBA in accounting). While in law school at Texas Tech and after graduating, John worked as an Assistant District Attorney. John started his own law firm after working with law firms in Tyler and Longview. For ten years, Johns work has primarily focused on the enforcement of federal legislation. This uniquely qualifies him to draft legislation we can be proud of. Having defended small businesses, John understands the challenges facing East Texas business owners.

As a church leader, John has regularly taught at different churches in Longview and Tyler. John's community service has included Junior Achievement, teaching students basic business principles; Big Brothers/Big Sisters, an after-school tutoring program for struggling students; Meals on Wheels and other community projects.

John, his wife Nicole, and their children live in Longview. Also a native Texan, Nicole moved to Gregg County to attend Kilgore College, where she performed as a Kilgore Rangerette. Nicole also attended the University of Texas at Tyler, where she received her education degree. As a mother and homemaker, Nicole fully supports her husband in his decision to run for office.

John and Nicole both have rich heritages in our country and our state. Johns tenth Great Grandfather came to America in 1608 on the Mary & Margaret and served in one of the first legislative bodies on this continent. Johns family has lived in East Texas since the 1800s. Nicoles third Great Grandfather was the youngest survivor of the 1836 battle of the Alamo. John and Nicole want to give back to their state and country by serving in the United States Congress.

John has been active in statewide GOP politics serving as a delegate to both the local and state GOP conventions and was a Republican Precinct Chairman in Gregg County. Graves was the Republican Nominee for U.S. Congress last year, receiving 70% of the Republican Primary vote. John's grassroots organization was able to make personal contact with over 100,000 voters last year. Hundreds of volunteers are excited and ready for a vigorous campaign to bring a Republican Congressman to East Texas.

John has been speaking to Republican clubs throughout the new CD1 and enjoys broad support among Republican grassroots activists. John also has broad financial support throughout our new district.

John is running for Congress in the newly redrawn Texas Congressional District 1. He promises to bring new energy to the office and to champion the conservative beliefs and principles the people of our district hold dear.
