InfoMegan England (nee Flores) was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas attending All Saints Catholic Elementary School and Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School. She served as Student Body President at Butler County Community College before studying abroad at Harlaxton College in England. She earned a B.A. from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas where she studied business and fine arts, worked as the Director of the Art Affair Gallery and played women’s varsity soccer.

After graduation, Megan moved to Kansas City to begin a career at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art as the Retail Operations Manager. In her ten years there, she more than doubled sales, curated nationally recognized retail shows, and was nominated by NICHE magazine for the “Top Retailer Award: Best Museum Store” in each of her last four years.

Meanwhile, in 2002, she and her husband Matt purchased their first home in Roeland Park where they still reside. They quickly became active in the community by working to protect the green space of the former Roeland Park Elementary School from being developed into housing in the land-locked neighborhood. Today it is a dedicated city park and community asset.

In 2007, Megan defeated an incumbent to win a seat on the Roeland Park City Council, was re-elected in 2011 and currently serves full-time as a community volunteer. As a City Councilmember, she has been a strong advocate for public art and environmental responsibility as well as long-range fiscal planning and balanced tax policies. Megan also serves on many area boards in an effort to help maintain the excellent quality of life valued so deeply by Johnson County residents. Honors include being named “Best Politician of 2011” in The Pitch’s Best of Kansas City edition.

Megan is extremely close with her family in Wichita and she, Matt, and her dog Sunny spend many weekends away with them celebrating birthdays, holidays and lazy Sunday afternoons.
