InfoAndrew Telegdi was first elected to the House of Commons in 1993. He is currently the Chair of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and Chair of the South West Ontario Caucus of the Liberal Party.

Mr. Telegdi has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on Aboriginal Affairs and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. He has been a member of the Standing Committees on Citizenship and Immigration, Justice and Human Rights, Canadian Heritage, and the Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament.

He has served as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, was a co-founder of the Post-Secondary Education Caucus and a member of the P & C Insurance Caucus and the Auto Caucus. As member of the Liberal Caucus Task Force on the Future of Financial Services, he penned the report's chapter on insurance and was chair of the Liberal Caucus on Insurance.

Prior to his election to Parliament, Mr. Telegdi served as Executive Director of Youth In Conflict with the Law, and as councilor with the City of Waterloo and the Regional Municipality of Waterloo.

While earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Waterloo, Mr. Telegdi was a two-term President of the Federation of Students, and also served on the University Senate.

Mr. Telegdi and his wife Nancy have one child.
