InfoThe Honourable Don Boudria has represented the Ontario riding of Glengarry–Prescott–Russell in the House of Commons since 1984.

He was first appointed to Cabinet as Minister for International Cooperation and Minister responsible for La Francophonie on October 4, 1996.

On June 11, 1997, the Prime Minister appointed him Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.

On March 25, 1998, he was appointed Chair of the Steering Committee of the Fourth Jeux de la Francophonie 2001.

On January 15, 2002, he became Minister of Public Works and Government Services and on May 26 became Leader of the Goverment in the House of Commons.

During his career in Parliament, he has also been Deputy Chair and then Chair of the Ontario Liberal Caucus, Opposition Deputy Whip, Chair of the Liberal Caucus Committee on Government Operations, Deputy Opposition House Leader, Deputy Government Whip and Chief Government Whip.

Between 1984 and 1993, he held several opposition critic portfolios, including Agriculture, Supply and Services, Public Works and Canada Post.

Mr. Boudria began his political career in 1976 when he was elected councillor for Cumberland Township. He was re-elected in 1978 and 1980.

From 1981 to 1984, he represented the riding of Prescott-Russell in the Ontario Legislature.

Mr. Boudria was educated at the University of Waterloo. Before entering politics, he worked as a federal employee.

Mr. Boudria is also the founding president of the Ontario section of the Assemblée internationale des Parlementaires de langue française.

He and his wife Mary Ann have two children and two grandchildren.
