State Representative Brian Banks is serving his first term representing Michigan’s 1st House District, which comprises Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores and a portion of Northeast Detroit.
Banks earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Wayne State University. In addition, Banks earned a law degree from the Michigan State University College of Law. In law school, Banks volunteered with the MSU Law Plea and Sentencing Clinic, where he provided legal services to the poor. Currently, Banks is pursuing a doctorate in public policy and administration.
Banks is a former elementary school teacher and adjunct professor. Banks is an advocate for education and committed to ensure that all children have access to the quality education they need to reach their full potential and compete for good-paying jobs – no matter where they live. Banks has served on boards of Wayne State University Criminal Justice Department and Emmanuel Community Services.
