InfoAs said on our homepage, I'm an entrepruener who owns After5 Alternative Newspaper in Grand Forks. But it hardly reflects who I am or what I'm all about.

A local teacher and role model of mine once said, "Mike, you can do anything you want in life as long as you want it bad enough and do whatever it takes to get there." This would set the tone for everything I now stand for.

In 1998, when I was just in eighth grade, I saw a movie that would impact my life forever. It goes by "RUDY" and was about an individual who, despite overbearing odds, played football for the University of Notre Dame. The man behind the name, Daniel Ruettiger, had among other things, dyslexia, which was not diagnosed during his college years in the 1970's. He was put down constantly for both a supposed lack of mental and physical abilities. But in the end, he did it- he graduated from Notre Dame as well as playing football there. Through my high school and college years, I carried on the name "Rudy" while playing high school football at Red River H.S. in Grand Forks, and college football at Mayville State University. I also won an armload of awards for work ethnic, reflective of my idol and namesake.

In 2005, while in college, I became immersed into the principles of individual liberty and limited government and never looked back.

Combining my passions and work ethnic for acheving dreams with a love for liberty, I am eager to represent the state I love and always will- North Dakota. We have a very prosperous state, but our government has grown at a rate faster than the feds have. State spending has more than tripled in the last ten years. So, yes, we have a robust economy but we can't say we accomplished that by merit and sticking to conservative ideals.

Should our economy get in trouble and perhaps falter one day, we need to elect people who will practice fiscal restraint and I vow to do just that.

Will you stand with me?
