InfoHi, I am Arthur Hulbert and I am running for the State House of Representatives, District 14.

People often ask me why I am running for office. The reason I am running is at the bottom of every one of my signs and summed up in 3 words, “A Brighter Future”. I want to see and help create a brighter future for your children, your grandchildren, and for my 3 daughters. I believe our brighter future is dependent upon our ability to improve our economy, strengthen public education, and protect our key values.

I want my children and yours to grow up in a safe community where they are able to find a great job locally and be free to worship as they choose. I want an America where your children, your grandchildren, and mine aren’t straddled with government debt and can have the same opportunities that we had growing up. Some say small town America is dying –that economic opportunities are leaving. I say no. It doesn’t have to be that way. We have great opportunities right in front of us. Telecommuting and the internet have created thousands of jobs and hundreds of companies in small towns just like where we live. We are strategically located in the center of the United States for manufacturing and distribution. With us having the river port, major highways, railways, career tech, and quality local colleges and universities in our back door, there is no reason we should not be able to create a brighter future for our children. With that being said, our children’s ability for a brighter future will be greatly dependent upon the type of leaders we elect.

We need to elect leaders who have business experience and are committed to job creation so our children don’t have to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma City or Texas to find a quality job. Having started and run three successful debt free businesses in Oklahoma in the last 12 years, one of which grew to provide services in 35 states and Puerto Rico, I understand how to create jobs.

We need to elect leaders who will protect and support our public schools. I believe our state should not be close to last in terms of funding public education which has resulted in larger class sizes, the reduction of educators, and decreased resources. I think our teachers have done an excellent job with the resources they have been provided. While I strongly support public education, I believe education should begin at home. Teachers’ jobs will become much more effective if we as parents will become more actively engaged in our children’s learning.

Last but not least, we need to elect leaders with a commitment to values. Having grown up on a family farm where I milked cows and goats, I learned the value of hard work and self-discipline.

We need to elect leaders committed to protecting the traditional family Christian values that are currently under attack across our country. Marriage should be between one man and one woman. Our President and Vice President disagree with this and feel the decision should be left up to the states which reinforces the need to elect the right type of state legislators. We need to elect leaders who believe that all life has value and should be protected from the very elderly to the pre-born. We need to elect leaders who are committed to protecting the constitution and the rights of law abiding citizens to gun ownership. We need leaders who value and demonstrate fiscal responsibility. We need leaders who recognize and value the sacrificial service provided daily across our country by our military, police, and fire departments. We need leaders who believe in service leadership to others, not themselves. My desire is to live a life of service as demonstrated by my past mission trips to Africa and Dominican Republic, being a deacon, teaching youth and young marrieds for over 15 years, and volunteering in communities providing free physical therapy services to local athletic programs.

As a small businessman who has helped create over 200 jobs, an educator who has taught classes for OU and OSU, and as a healthcare provider that has worked in your homes, hospitals, schools, and nursing homes, I would like to serve as your next state representative. Together, I am confident we can build a brighter future. If I sound like someone you would like representing you. I humbly request your support and vote on November 6th.
