| Info | Donna Bebo knows first-hand that the real “All American” life isn’t always the way we often see it portrayed on T.V. shows. She knows that the real American life is a single mom worrying about health insurance, child care and finding work. She knows it is a young wife struggling to pay for college and childcare. She understands it is a family stretching their paycheck to cover diapers, groceries and the mortgage. Sometimes it's about just finding a safe, affordable place to rent. It's about finding a job that will pay your bills. It's about making sure you can take care of your children. Donna knows the real All-American life's hardships, uncertainty, struggles and joy. She knows firsthand because she’s lived it.
Donna grew-up in a single parent home. Early on, she recognized the struggles and challenges that face parents who are trying to raise children by themselves. These challenges were spotlighted even more years later when she became a single mom herself. Her daughter, Marissa, was her primary motivation to return to school and begin pursuing her degree. She knew that if she wanted a college degree to be important to her daughter, she needed to show that it was important to her as well. Leading by example has always been important to her. Like many single parents, Donna was faced with balancing work, school, and caring for her daughter. She ultimately made the difficult choice to focus on her daughter and providing for her needs by taking on more hours at work. But, she continues to stress the importance of education to her daughters and is doing everything she can to provide for them the opportunities she never had.
Donna has never shied away from hard work. She has waited tables, tended bar, worked as a utility locating technician on construction sites, and held clerical and managerial positions. For Donna, American life is about hard work and family. But, as an Army wife, it has also involved sending a husband to war and counting the days until he returns home. Donna has held down the home front during deployments and has organized cross-country moves. She's settled in new places, sometimes with her husband still overseas and she has never let fear stand in her way. Military families know, whatever the mission, you get informed and you get to work. These experiences have helped make her self-sufficient and determined to tackle whatever comes her way.
Her husband, Jason, retired from the Army last year and it is with his encouragement, that Donna has entered the race for United States Representative from the 4th Congressional District of Oklahoma. She is living the example she wants to teach her girls. It is her belief that, in order to change the world, a person needs to be willing to take action. This is that action.
Donna has had challenges she’s met head-on and struggles she’s overcome. She knows what it means to pursue a dream. She isn’t your typical politician and that’s exactly why she’ll get the job done.
