As a hiker and runner she has an appreciation for our rivers, streams and lakes. As a Commissioner she understands the importance of water quality and availability to our residences, businesses, farms and recreation sites and believes we can promote good stewardship through education and awareness.
Donna earned a B.S. from the University of South Carolina, two masters from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and has completed postgraduate work toward a Ph.D. at Regent University. She has taught at several colleges and has served as a department chair. Most recently she served as Executive Director of SCBEST for District 6 schools.
Donna also has over 11 years’ experience in administration and management. She worked in the banking industry for six years and currently owns Donna Hicks & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm that specializes in developing vision, strategy and implementation for non-profits. Donna earned her non-profit management certification from Duke University.
Donna is a strong believer in community involvement and is a graduate of both Leadership Spartanburg and Leadership Greenville. She initiated and developed a fundraising project for local food pantries for several years.
Donna has worked on several committees including the Spartanburg County Community Indicators Project helping citizens 55+ to remain healthy, active and connected to their community. She helped with the Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities. She also is a member of the Circle 555 Club – a Women’s giving club that sponsors scholarships for non-profit projects dedicated to helping women in the community.
Donna is a conservative Republican. She is running for the South Carolina House District 37 seat.
