InfoFor those that don’t know me let me introduce myself.

I grew up in Cedar Hill and attended school in the Hillsboro School District before graduating from Missouri Southern State College and St. Louis University. Today, I practice law in Hillsboro and my wife, Wendi, and our daughters, Aliana and Parker, live in Cedar Hill.

I am proud to say that my family and I are beginning a new chapter in our lives. For most of my life I have prepared myself and those around me for the day that I would have the opportunity to serve the people of my community in public office. In politics, as in life, timing drives many decisions. My family, my firm and I had been preparing for me to run a race in 2014. With the recent redistricting and the economic problems our state faces we were faced with a decision.

That time is now.

Our county, state and country are in a pivotal time. On the edge of a recession our economy is teetering between failure and recovery. We need leadership to focus on common sense reform – that includes job growth and social welfare reduction. A year or so ago my wife found some t-shirts on line that say “reduce your government footprint”. I have to think that there is really some wisdom in that statement. Try to find any two households in my district that have not been affected or know someone who has been affected by the closing of the Chrysler plant. Our government bailed Chrysler out, with corporate welfare, by paying them money to move our jobs, plant and equipment to Mexico. I know that was federal money and not state, but where were the leaders of this state when that was happening, what were they doing. Did you see Governor Nixon call our federal leaders out to protect our state, I didn’t. When Harley-Davidson was looking for a place for a new plant, did you see our Governor meet with them and try to win them over, I didn’t.

That is just some of what our current leadership has not done. Let’s look at what they have done, under the economic policies of this Governor we are changing the way we receive our driver’s licenses. The plan is that they will be mailed to us and not received at the office. Instead we will get them by mail. The interesting part is that they will be printed in Atlanta,Georgia. Instead of using Missouri resident’s money to pay Missouri residents to print our driver’s licenses we will now pay Atlanta, Georgia residents to do it. So much for shopping local.

In Jefferson County we sit on the edge of one of the biggest possible economic development projects we have ever seen in the potential Jefferson County port. Have you seen our governor championing it and pushing for the jobs and economic growth it could create, I haven’t.

We need a team of representatives in Jefferson Citywho live and work in our community, who truly have our communities’ interest at heart. We need leadership willing to push to make Jefferson county economic development, job growth, and transportation issues a priority.

We need leadership willing to closely examine our government spending to find the areas of excess spending that can be cut without hurting our children and disabled. We need to cut job killing taxes while at the same time protecting life and our liberties.

I look forward to having the opportunity to do those things.

A little more about me and my background

I graduated cum laude from Hillsboro High School in 1992. After attending one year at Southeast Missouri State University, I attended and graduated from Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Missouriwith degrees in criminal justice and computer information systems. After graduating from MSSU, I returned toJeffersonCountyto attendSt. LouisUniversityand graduated from SLU earning both a Juris Doctorate and Masters in Business Administration in 2001. While in graduate school I served in leadership positions in several organizations and representedSt. LouisUniversityLawSchoolat the Regional Moot Court Competition.

I joined the Thurman Law Firm in 2000 as a law clerk and have continued with the firm since. While at the firm I have been active in the Young Lawyers Association of Jefferson County, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, the American Association of Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Republican Attorneys for Civil Justice, and the Republican National Lawyers Association.

I have been active in the community, as a founding member and President of the Hillsboro Jaycees, a member of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, a member of the Board of Directors for the Jefferson County Pregnancy Care Center and Sunny Hill, Inc., where I am currently the Chairman of the Board, and have served on several committees for my church and for the Jefferson Baptist Association. In 2006 I was named Catholic Legal Assistance Ministries’ Volunteer of the Year by the Arch Diocese of St. Louis, for assisting them in providing free legal services to those that couldn’t afford to hire an attorney.

In 2008 I had what may be one of the greatest experiences of my life in serving as a Co-Chair of the Jefferson County Charter Commission. I have continued to work with the new government to work towards a better more representative government inJeffersonCounty.

Also in 2008 and 2009 I was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers–Rising Stars Edition, an honored reserved for no more than 2.5% of the attorneys in the state. In 2011 I was named to the top 100 lawyers list for the state ofMissouriby The National Trial Lawyers Association and to the Top 40 under 40.
