InfoRepresentative Jamie Van Fossen is serving his fifth term as State Representative for the 81st House District, which includes central and east Davenport. Jamie is serving his third term as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Jamie has led the fight in the Iowa House to reduce income taxes by introducing a 20% income tax cut. He ultimately succeeded in gaining a 10% income tax cut.

During the 2002 session of the General Assembly, the legislature approved a new law that is a venture capital initiative. This law authorizes the formation of the Iowa Capital Investment Corporation (a non-profit corporation). The Iowa Capital Investment Corporation will in turn form the Iowa Fund of Funds, which will be a for-profit limited partnership or limited liability company. The Iowa Fund of Funds will issue preferred stock to investors, which is backed by contingent investment tax credits. The Iowa Capital Investment Board is authorized to issue $100 million of contingent investment tax credits to be issued contemporaneously with an investment in the Iowa Fund of Funds by an investor. "As Chairman of the Iowa House Ways & Means Committee, I was proud to help make this new law possible and increase the pool of funds available to grow jobs in Iowa," Van Fossen said.

Jamie lives in Davenport with his wife Dawn, and daughters Rachel, 18; Hannah, 14; and Heather, 14. The Van Fossen's attend St. Paul's Catholic Church. Jamie earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.), with a minor in Economics from St. Ambrose University in Davenport. He is an Economic Analyst for MidAmerican Energy Co. in Davenport.
