InfoGina grew up in University City where she attended the local public schools. After spending several years in Los Angeles, she returned to Mid-St. Louis County in 1985, and ultimately setted in Richmond Heights, where she and her husband Nelson have lived for twenty years.

Gina worked as a legal assistant at Blumenfeld, Kaplan & Sandweiss (now Stinson, Morrison Hecker) in Clayton for over a decade. During that time (and despite being a full-time working mother of two) Gina attended evening classes at St. Louis Community College at Meramec, where she earned an A.A.S. in Legal Assistance in 1995 with academic honors.

Gina continued pursuing her education, earning a Bachelor's Degree, summa cum laude, from UM-St. Louis in 2001 and a Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law in 2005, where she received a Scholars In Law scholarship and was awarded the Don Summers Prize for Professional Responsibility (ethics). Gina was an associate editor of the law school's Journal of Law and Policy. She also spent two semesters in the CAFO unit (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) of the school's Environmental Law Clinic, representing the Sierra Club and individual farmers in their claims against the EPA and the Missouri Department of Agriculture to enforce environmental protections in Missouri.

While working and attending school, Gina still found time for her community. She was particularly active in her children's schools, including participation in the district's Comprehensive School Impovement (CSIP) process and a term as president of the the Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. In 2004, while still attending law school, Gina was elected to represent District 3 on the Richmond Heights City Council. She was re-elected to the City Council in 2008 and again in 2012.

Since joining the City Council, Gina has continued her community activities. She was a member of the St. Louis County Municipal League's legislative affairs committee from 2005-2010. In addition, she was a voting member of the Clayton-Richmond Heights Joint Study Committee and three of its subcommittees (Secretary of the Public Awareness Subcommittee and member of the Information Technology and Planning & Zoning subcommittees). She has served as the president of the Hadley-Lincoln Democratic Club since 2006. In 2008, Gina was elected as delegate for the Third Congressional District and attended the Missouri State Convention for the Democratic Party, representing the Hadley-Lincoln Township.

Gina is an associate with Gary M. Siegel, LLC, part of the St Louis Lawyer's Group in Clayton, with a primary focus in domestic relations and civil litigation.

Gina and Nelson have two children. Travis is a 2007 graduate of Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School, and a 2011 graduate of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. Travis currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where he works as a film editor. Their daughter Natalie is a student at Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School. In addition to her classwork, Natalie is involved in a host of extracurricular activities, including the Superintendent's Advisory Council, the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee, volleyball, track, theater (where she played Annelle in the Spring 2012 production of "Steel Magnolias"), and the school's acapella group.
