InfoI was born and raised in San Jose, California. My parents immigrated to America in 1966 from Croatia and raised me and my 7 siblings. I went to public school, graduating from Oak Grove High School (1987) and San Jose State University (1993).
I financed my college education while working in the grocery business where I also met my wife, Tereza; we married in 1993 and have a son and daughter.
We have lived in the District 4 community since 2002. Our children received an exceptional education in the Berryessa School District and enjoyed playing sports in the local recreational leagues where I coached them, as well.
When looking for ways to be more involved in my community, I discovered the Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council (BCAC) and have been a member since 2007 and currently sit on the Board as a Member at Large.
Inspired by BCAC, I realized that I wanted to become more involved. In 2009 I was elected by District 4 as one of the Neighborhood Commissioners volunteering to represent the residents and business owners to better connect City Government with neighborhood organizations.
In the last 3 years and on behalf of city-wide neighborhood community organizations, the Neighborhood Commission submitted budget recommendations to the Mayor and City Council to ensure a quality of life and keep core community services intact for the residents and business owners of San Jose. Additionally, as your commissioner, I am currently on the Work Plan Committee working toward improving Policy 6-30 and raising community concerns regarding the potential sale and mixed-use development of the Rancho Del Pueblo Golf Course.
