InfoXiomara Rodriguez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at a very interesting political time on the island. She was raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and attended the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), where she studied history and theater.

She joined the U. S. Coast Guard in 1977 and was transferred to Washington, DC. During her time in the Coast Guard she was the first Latina to be a recruiter for the Coast Guard and also the first Latina to be a Special Agent with the Coast Guard Investigative Service.

She attended George Mason University where she studied sociology with a minor in deviant behavior.

She retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1997 and moved to Reno, Nevada, where she has been living since. She has been married to David for 30 years. They have two daughters and two very beautiful grand kids.

Xiomara Rodriguez attended Truckee Meadows Community College, where she obtained her degree as a Paralegal and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. After graduation, she worked for the law firm of Fry and Berning.

Politically, Xiomara was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, where she addressed the Nevada Delegation. She was the recent past Chairperson for the Latino Coalition, Secretary of the Stonewall Democrats, Vice Chair of Programming for the Democratic Women, and 2nd Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Washoe County. She also ran for Assembly District 31 during the past election cycle and helped organize and register to vote the Latino community.

Xiomara is also very involved in the community. She is the present Chairperson of the Ward 3 Neighborhood Advisory Board (NAB) and has been a member since 2008. She has volunteered with La Cooperativa de Familias Unidas of Neil Road, Nevada Hispanic Services and the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN). She was co-chair and chair of Fiesta on Wells Avenue and she was a member of Sierra Nevada Association of Paralegals.

Xiomara Rodriguez and her brother, Ramon Suro, hosted the first and only Spanish language political talk radio show in Nevada, on Radio Innovacion 1590 (KQLO), for a year.
