Info | DeKalb County Commissioner Burrell Ellis is an attorney with the national law firm of Epstein Becker & Green, P.C. His law practice is concentrated in the area of real estate development.
Commissioner Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
In November 2000, Commissioner Ellis was elected to the Board of Commissioners for DeKalb County -- Georgia's second most populous county including portions of the City of Atlanta, and the cities of Stone Mountain and Decatur.
Commissioner Ellis has been selected by his peers to serve as the Presiding Officer of the Board of Commissioners. He has sponsored key legislation pertaining to economic and real estate development. Recently, he sponsored the Clean Indoor Air Ordinance that will help to clean the air in DeKalb County's restaurants.
In addition to his law practice, Commissioner Ellis is a member of the adjunct faculty of Georgia State University College of Law.
His community involvement is extensive, and his volunteer activities have included leadership roles in 100 Black Men of America, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the Democratic Party of DeKalb County.
