| Info | Senator Brian Murray first joined the Senate by appointment on December 24, 2003, replacing Sen. James West who resigned to become Mayor of Spokane. Murray had been West's executive legislative assistant prior to his appointment. He lost a close race in the Republican primary for the special election to state Rep. Brad Benson, who was also considered for the appointment.
Senator Murray served as Deputy Majority Whip in his short time in the Senate, and was on the following committees:
