| Info | Scott Reid is the Member of Parliament for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington and is currently the critic for FEDNOR (Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario).
First elected in November 2000, Scott's critic portfolios have included Infrastructure, Bilingualism, Intergovernmental Affairs and Direct Democracy.
Keeping an election promise and implementing party policy on direct democracy, Scott has held several Constituency Referendums, in which the voters of his riding indicate how they would like him to vote on important pieces of legislation.As a result of his first referendum, his constituents advised him to opt in to the MP pay raise and then donate it to charity. Since that time, Scott has donated $21,000 annually to purchase defibrillators for local fire departments and CPR training. Scott's most recent donation funded a program whereby all future students who graduate from any high school in Lanark-Carleton will graduate certified in CPR.
Scott Reid is a noted authority on Canadian federalism, having written two books on the subject - "Lament for a Notion" and "Canada Remapped" - as well as numerous articles. He has also appeared before parliamentary committees as an expert witness.
Prior to his election, Scott served as chief constitutional advisor to Preston Manning. He also taught at the University of Western Sydney in Australia.
Having grown up in the family business, Scott Reid is a member of the Board of Directors of Giant Tiger Stores Ltd.
