InfoMaurice Vellacott was born in 1955 and has been married to Mary since 1976. They have four children and three grandchildren.
Maurice has a master’s degree from Canadian Theological Seminary (University of Regina affiliated) and an earned doctoral degree from Trinity International University in Chicago. He has been a small business partner/landlord.

He has served as a pastor, a college teacher at Bethany in Hepburn and a health care worker at Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home. Maurice has had involvement with the Canadian Palliative Care, Sask. Landlords, Sask. Taxpayers, Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters International, Focus on the Family and Real Choices Crisis Pregnancy Centre in Saskatoon.

Maurice was a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. He was elected to the Saskatoon District Health Board in 1995. He was first elected to Parliament in 1997, as a Reform MP representing the Wanuskewin Constituency. He was re-elected in 2000 as a Canadian Alliance MP for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin. He was re-elected again in 2004, this time as the Conservative MP for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin.

Maurice has served in Parliament as Deputy Critic for Health, Deputy Critic for Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC), Vice-Chair of HRDC Parliamentary Committee and on sub-committee for disabilities, Deputy Critic for Aboriginal Affairs, Committee Member on Official Languages and Co-chair of the all-party Pro-Life Caucus.
