InfoPeter Lumaj, an attorney-at-law, was born and raised in Communist Albania. Lack of freedom and opportunity in his homeland inevitably led Lumaj and his three brothers, Tony, Paul and Fred, to settle in the United States. They left behind their parents and their seven other siblings, who suffered severe persecution in the hands of the government.

Once in the United States, Lumaj learned English and enrolled in the City University of New York (CUNY). He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. While attending CUNY, he worked as a porter and a doorman to support his family and to pay for his education. Later, Lumaj enrolled in the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. While attending law school, he worked as a fraud investigator.

Peter Lumaj decided to run for the United States Senate because he is concerned about the future of Connecticut and of our country. He sees the United States quickly moving towards socialism. Because of his experience and exposure to other governments not receptive to American style democracy, he understands the importance of maintaining a free society where its citizens are guaranteed sovereign rights as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

Lumaj disagrees with the “liberal elite” belief that America’s best days are behind us. Their view that the government is the solution to our problems is ludicrous. Clearly, the government is not the solution; it is the problem. The United States of America and the American people are exceptional and, therefore, our best days are still ahead of us… as long as the government is kept within its constitutional limits.

Peter is married to Ermelinda, and they have three children: Frank, Amy, and Larisa.
