Info | David Anderson is the Member of Parliament for Cypress Hills - Grasslands, Saskatchewan. Born in 1957, Mr. Anderson is an active farmer/businessman from Frontier, Saskatchewan, where he has lived most of his life. Mr. Anderson has been farming for the past 30 years.
In 1975, he graduated from Frontier High School and went on to study at the University of Regina where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 1987, he enrolled in a Masters of Divinity program at the Canadian Theological seminary. Over the next three years, he completed the Masters of Divinity program, while continuing to farm full-time.
David was first elected to Parliament in 2000 as a Member of the Canadian Alliance Party. Since then he has filled several important roles. He was elected by his Saskatchewan colleagues to be the Saskatchewan Caucus Chairman from 2000- 2003. He served on the Canadian Alliance Ag team as an Agriculture Critic from 2000-2003. During this time he was also the Critic for the Canadian Wheat Board and served as a Member for the standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food. From July 2003 until the 2004 election call, David served as Official Opposition Question Period Director and was responsible for the daily preparation and presentation of Question Period. When the sponsorship scandal erupted during this time, Question Period played a critical role in exposing the issues.
As a current member of the Conservative Party of Canada, David serves as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board.
David married his wife, Sheila, in 1982. They have two children, Amy and Andrew. Mr. Anderson has been actively involved his home community of Frontier, serving on various boards and volunteering with Frontier Minor Sports. He served on the Eastend School Division Board from 1994-2000, the last three, as Chair. His interests are varied and include woodworking, reading, restoring vehicles and snowboarding. Once in a while, he also enjoys just sitting and relaxing.
