Keddy is a graduate of Acadia University and lives in New Ross, Nova Scotia with his partner Judy and their children Benjamin, Joshua, Jordan, Mackensey, Kaitlyn and Dylan.
Keddy has worked as a farmer, a driller in Nova Scotia’s offshore oil industry and a Christmas tree producer and exporter.
He is the recipient of the Farin-Hickman Award from the Nova Scotia Wildlife Federation for his work in helping to maintain stocks of wild Atlantic salmon. He is past president of the Christmas Tree Council of Nova Scotia.
Keddy has held many portfolios during his years as a Parliamentarian. He has served as the question period director for the Conservative Party and the critic for the International Trade - Resource Promotion committee.
From June 2003 to January 2004 Keddy served as the whip of the Progressive Conservative Party and the PC critic for the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.
Previous Progressive Conservative appointments include the critic for Natural Resources and Public Accounts. He has also served on other portfolios including Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, Fisheries and Oceans, and Agriculture and Agri-Foods.
