Info | Ever since she first moved to Toronto from her native Taiwan, Liang-Hsuan Chen has represented both the incredible opportunities that Ontario provides for immigrants from around the world, as well as the remarkable contributions that new Canadians make to our province each and every day.
As an award-winning educator who has taught public school, high school, college, and university, Liang has dedicated much of her career to exploring and understanding the rich contributions that immigrant students make to Ontario’s post-secondary institutions, the economy, and quality of life. Liang is a faculty member in Accounting who holds an administrative leadership position as the Associate Dean – Registrarial and Student Services at the University of Toronto Scarborough.
A Certified General Accountant with substantial experience in the private sector, Liang also understands the challenges and opportunities facing Ontario’s small businesses as they struggle to create jobs and make ends meet during difficult economic times. Liang’s efforts to support young accountants building their careers has led to her being recognized with mentorship and fellowship awards from the Certified General Accountants of Ontario and Canada.
Liang remains a champion of ensuring that all Ontario students receive the highest quality education so they can find jobs, raise a family, and build a better future right here at home. While Ontario continues to attract talented and hardworking people from all over the world, too many Ontario families of all backgrounds are being left behind. Liang is running for MPP because she believes that these Ontario families deserve to see better education, skills, and tax policies so that Ontario can continue to serve as a land of opportunity for years to come.
In their spare time, Liang and Louis, her husband of 15 years, enjoy hiking and trekking throughout Canada’s national parks. Liang considers herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to complete her education and build her career in her new home. She now dedicates herself to ensuring that Ontario continues to benefit from the talents of new Canadians for years to come.
