| Info | Kevin Gilroy was appointed the Treasurer of Northumberland County in July 2010. Previously he was Community/Commercial Banker for over 33 years. He was born in Scranton, graduated from Pottsville High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Scranton. Kevin has also completed several Advanced Community and Commercial banking courses from Bucknell University and retains his Property and Casualty Insurance License.
When Kevin took the Treasurers position he inherited a department that was under scrutiny in previous years for lack of fiscal controls, stealing, and limited work ethic. Gilroy put his decades of financial experience to work immediately. He instituted a system of checks and balances to assure the citizens of Northumberland County their funds were managed with the highest security. With experience Kevin leads his office by example, working tirelessly to upgrade the Treasurers Office. In addition to installing financial controls, Kevin has implemented the use of credit card machines, and online purchasing for dog licenses.
Kevin Gilroy has bridged gaps between the Commissioner's Office and the Treasurer's Office. He's worked with the Board of Commissioners to refinance long term debt to reduce interest, voted to freeze his salary for four years, and has quickly become respected as a WORKING Treasurer.
Kevin has a proven track record of successful financial management. He is a volunteer board member of the Regional Economic Development Council of Central Pa, the Greater Danville Area Industrial Development Corp., and director of the Innovation Center of Central Pa. He has served in the past as a board director of the Northumberland County Housing Authority, Maria Joseph Manor, and Danville Rotary of 20 years.
Gilroy resides in Paxinos where he enjoys spending time with his wife Carolyn and three children Eric, Melissa and Kelli.
