InfoBrandon Scott is a Democrat running for City Council in Baltimore City’s 2nd District. He is a community leader, public servant and lifelong resident of Baltimore City. His political awareness has steadily grown and become more focused as he has lived in Baltimore’s neighborhoods and worked with Baltimore’s citizens throughout his academic and professional career in public service and civic engagement.

As a proud Baltimorean, Brandon Scott is a graduate of MERVO High School and St. Mary's College of Maryland. At MERVO, he excelled both in the classroom and athletics. As a cross country and track athlete, Brandon won City and Regional championships, and was a Junior Olympian. While earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science at St. Mary’s College, Brandon was recognized by both his peers and the college administration as an academic and campus leader. Most notably, he served on St. Mary’s Multicultural Advisory and African Heritage Month committees from 2004-2006, received the Service and Social Change Excellence in Service award in 2003-2004, and was also awarded the Student Government Association’s Club Leader of the Year Award in 2005 as the Black Student Union President.

Brandon’s love and commitment to Baltimore and its citizens is evidenced through his record of service. He began his service to the people of Baltimore as a Site Program Specialist for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Maryland. In this capacity, he recruited, screened and trained mentors for school-based mentoring programs. Next, Brandon represented Northeast Baltimore as a Community Outreach Liaison in the Office of the City Council President, and continued to represent Northeast Baltimore as a Neighborhood Liaison in the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods. He is currently a Recreation Neighborhood Specialist with Baltimore City Recreation and Parks.

Brandon has spent countless hours meeting with residents, walking their neighborhoods and working with them to resolve issues and strengthen their communities. As the Northeast District Neighborhood Liaison, he worked closely on public safety and education legislation, including bills that led to changes in the City’s liquor code for taverns, the creation of a student violence tip hotline and a city-wide crime alert text messaging system. Brandon worked alongside members of the Belair-Edison and Frankford communities to close Club 410 and Club Uzo’s - two violent nuisance establishments. Brandon has a worked with numerous 2nd District community organizations including Frankford Improvement Association, Belair Edison Community Association, Overlea Community Association, Cedmont Improvement Association and the Glenham-Belhar Community Association to address community concerns.

Brandon has received many accolades for his service to several Baltimore communities, including awards from the Overlea Community Association, Belair-Edison Community Association, Coldstream Homestead Montebello Community Corporation and Park Heights Renaissance. Brandon is a member of the Baltimore Civitas Academy’s Advisory Board and serves on the Frankford Improvement Association board. Additionally, he serves as the City’s representative on the College Bound Foundation’s Board and is a former member of Park Heights Renaissance’s Board of Directors.

Brandon lives in Baltimore’s Frankford Neighborhood.
