InfoJason Kenney was born in Ontario and raised in southern Saskatchewan, where he graduated from Notre Dame College. He did undergraduate studies in philosophy at the St. Ignatius Institute of the University of San Francisco.

Mr. Kenney was elected to Parliament on June 2, 1997 as the Member for Calgary Southeast. He has served in the Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet as National Revenue Critic and Finance Critic.

Jason was Caucus Chair of the United Alternative project, and co-chaired the Canadian Alliance 2000 National Campaign.

Prior to seeking election, Mr. Kenney served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Taxpayers federation, an 80,000 member non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization which promotes fiscal responsibility and democratic reforms. He previously served as the founding Executive Director of the CTF's largest affiliate, the Alberta Taxpayer's Association.

Mr. Kenney has also worked as Executive Assistant to the Leader of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party, and has served as a volunteer director and consultant to several non-profit organizations, including the National Foundation for Family Research and Education, the Catholic Civil Rights League, and Catholic Charities.

Mr. Kenney has been named one of Canada's "100 Leaders of the Future" by Maclean's magazine, "one of Canada's leading conservative activists by the Globe and Mail," and "one of 21 Canadians to watch in the 21st century" by the Financial Post Magazine.
