| Info | Evelyn Zigerelli Henderson was inspired by the public service of her relatives – Louis and Jim Manderino and was determined to find a way to serve the public like they did. So at 27 years old she ran for Clerk of Courts of Beaver County and became one of the youngest county officials ever elected. Even though her roots are from Western PA she has been a resident of Dauphin County many years, residing with her husband Carmen in Susquehanna Twp.
Evey is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice. From there she went into Beaver County Government and became the first female Work Release Administrator in PA.
She designed and implemented the first work release program at the Prison. In the first year on the job, she was able to give the Controller $47,000.00 when the budget called for her to only produce $15,000.00. Her peers named her to the position of Western Regional Vice-President of the Community Corrections Association of PA. She ran for office while serving as the Work Release Administrator, won and moved across the street to the Courthouse for 4 years.
In this position she was elected to serve as the Western Regional Vice-President of the Clerk of Courts and Prothonataries Association of PA Here she fought for schooling for the Constables Association of PA. On January 1, 1988 Evey came to Harrisburg as a Special Agent, Bureau of Investigations, PA State Auditor General’s Office.
On her wedding day, 20 years ago, her husband had an idea about going into the limousine business. The rest is history! She said “We’ll name it Henderson Limousine” and it has successfully operated in Dauphin County since the early 90′s. They together built the business day by day, employing many people. She is an expert in the transportation business.
In 2008 she received a national award for outstanding service from Boston Coach. Today she is a member of the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce, NAACP, Capitol Area Limousine Association and the Harris Towne Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.
