Funeral services for former Assemblyman Lloyd A. "Rusty" Russell, 69, who also was a retired dairy farmer and politician in the Little Valley area, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in East Otto United Methodist Church on Main Street. Burial will be in East Otto Cemetery.
Russell, who served in the Assembly for the 149th District from 1966 to 1972, died Tuesday (Dec. 11, 1990) in Sisters Hospital, Buffalo, after a long illness.
A Republican committeeman for the Town of East Otto at the time of his death, he was a former Cattaraugus County Civil Service commissioner and past East Otto town justice.
He was a glider pilot in the Army Air Forces in New Guinea from 1942 to 1945.
Born in East Otto, where he lived all his life, Russell was a graduate of Cattaraugus Central schools. He was a 50-year member of the William C. Edmunds Volunteer Fire Department in East Otto.
He also was a member of East Otto United Methodist Church; Clinton F. Paige Berean Lodge, F & AM;the Jamestown Consistory; Ismailia Temple of Buffalo; Gowanda Shrine Club No. 1; the Cattaraugus Farm Bureau, and the Allegheny Valley Region Antique Car Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret Bailey; a daughter, Cheryl Bailey of Amherst; two sisters, Mary Jackson of Perrysburg and Myrtle Berg, and two grandsons.
