InfoOLIN, Abram Baldwin, (son of Gideon Olin), a Representative from New York; born in Shaftsbury, Bennington County, Vt., September 21, 1808; attended the common schools, and was graduated from Williams College, Williamstown, Mass., in 1835; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1838 and commenced practice in Troy, N.Y.; recorder of the city of Troy 1844-1852; elected as a Republican to the Thirty-fifth, Thirty-sixth, and Thirty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1857-March 3, 1863); appointed by President Lincoln an associate justice of the supreme court of the District of Columbia and served from March 11, 1863, until he voluntarily retired January 13, 1879; died near Sligo, Montgomery County, Md., July 7, 1879; interment in the Danforth family lot adjacent to West Lawn Cemetery, Williamstown, Berkshire County, Mass.
