Info | PIERCE, Ray Vaughn, a Representative from New York; born in Stark, Herkimer County, N.Y., August 6, 1840; attended public and private schools; was graduated from the Eclectic Medical College, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1862; practiced medicine in Titusville, Pa., 1862-1866; moved to Buffalo, N.Y., in 1867; engaged in the manufacture and sale of proprietary medicines and established the Invalids’ Hotel and Surgical Institute; member of the State senate 1877-1879; elected as a Republican to the Forty-sixth Congress and served from March 4, 1879, to September 18, 1880, when he resigned; was publisher of the Medical Adviser and also a manufacturer; died on St. Vincents Island, Fla., February 4, 1914; interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, N.Y.
