Helmut Forren (43) has gained his experience in the field of Insurance from two sources: his extensive direct work with insurance risk management software and customer support, and his first hand experience with the difficulties of managing the health insurance needs of his own family through his small business. This gives him a unique perspective that other candidates lack. His perspective has been that of an outsider looking in, gaining experience in the area without being blinded by preconceived notions within the industry.
Graduating with Highest Honors, Dr. Forren completed his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1988, receiving his Doctorate in Electrical Engineering. Since as early as 1977, Dr. Forren has been a small business owner, specializing in software and engineering consulting. He is an expert in problem analysis, problem solving, and system organization.
Helmut and his wife Michelle Forren have been married for 22 years as of June 22nd. They both work for their consulting firm, Forefront Inc. During the 90's, they worked together organizing a successful non-profit community arts organization. Dr. Forren also spent that decade as a semi-professional race car driver.
Since the mid 90's, Dr. Forren has dedicated his volunteer time to promoting liberty, responsibility, and community. Organized by a community church nearby Georgia Tech, he is most proud of the time he has spent tutoring students who initially failed the science portion of the exit examination and might otherwise have never received their high-school diploma. His volunteer efforts have also led him to his current position as Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Georgia.
