| Info | David J. Freed was sworn in as Cumberland County District Attorney effective January 2, 2006. He had been First Assistant District Attorney since 2001. As District Attorney and Chief Law Enforcement Officer of our county, he is responsible for the overall functions of the District Attorney's Office. In addition, he personally prosecutes homicide and other violent felony cases. Dave is a graduate of Camp Hill High School, Washington and Lee University and the Dickinson School of Law. He previously served as a judicial law clerk in Cumberland County, a Deputy Prosecutor in the York County District Attorney's Office and worked in the private practice of law concentrating on insurance defense litigation. He is a member of the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Association where he serves on the Executive Committee, the board of the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Institute, and chairs the Education and Training, and Communication Committees. Dave lectures frequently to community and law enforcement groups and is a member of the faculty of the National Advocacy Center of the National College of District Attorneys. Dave lives in Camp Hill with his wife and three children.
