Info | Stephen Donnelly (40) is joint-leader of the Social Democrats and has been a TD for Wicklow since the 2011 general election. Elected to the Dáil on his first attempt, he previously worked as a management consultant and studied at Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He secured his 2011 Dáil seat with just 112 votes ahead of his closet rival, Sinn Féin councillor John Brady. In July 2015, Deputy Donnelly launched the Social Democrats party along with former Independent TDs Róisín Shortall and Catherine Murphy. He is a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform. The father-of-two lists efficient public services, support for vulnerable individuals and groups, and an overhaul of local and national politics as his main focuses.
