Vaughn Killeen is a college graduate and has been certified as a peace officer in California and Idaho. He is a graduate of the Northwest Law Enforcement Executive Command College and the FBI National Academy. He currently possesses the Executive Certificate from the Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training and has been a member of the law enforcement profession for 34 years.
Vaughn is married to Celeste and they have four children and numerous grandchildren, most living in Boise.
Vaughn has been the Chief Executive Officer of the largest local law enforcement agency in Idaho for over 18 years. This includes managing a $32 million budget with 474 personnel and an 836 bed jail and work release center. The Ada County Sheriff's Office serves a growing community of 315,000 and an economic regional community in excess of 475,000. The office also provides 911 dispatching to all fire, police and emergency medical personnel in the county. In addition, the Sheriff's Office provides records and evidence keeping for the Boise Police Department and contractual law enforcement services in three cities as well as Boise State University. His focus has been on the professional development of employees, community policing, jail program development, youth programs, technology enhancements, organizational efficiencies and law enforcement and corrections legislation.
