College of Liberal Arts, Chicago, Ill.; engaged as a salesman, advertising writer, and as an author; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1932; unsuccessful candidate for election in 1928 to the Seventy-first Congress and in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third, Seventy-fourth, and Seventy-fifth Congresses (March 4, 1933-January 3, 1939); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1938 to the Seventy-sixth Congress; member of the Democratic national congressional committee 1933-1939; resumed advertising and public relations work; regional director of Wage and Hour and Public Contracts Division, United States Department of Labor, Chicago, Ill., 1939-1956; engaged in public relations and management counseling; was a resident of Chicago, Ill., until his death there on December 19, 1979; interment in Neenah, Wis.
