InfoWith Robert Cole Sprague's appointment in February 2011 to the 76th District Ohio House of Representatives seat, he resumes his family's history of public service. The 76th House District includes Hancock and Hardin counties, and parts of Auglaize County.

A native of Findlay, Sprague comes to the Ohio House of Representatives having most recently served as City Auditor for the City of Findlay. As City Auditor, Sprague proved himself a leader on several fronts, including working tirelessly during and in the aftermath of the worst flood to hit the City of Findlay since 1913. Not only did Sprague lead a successful sandbagging effort which prevented telephone communication from being cut off during the flood, but he also served as the City's representative to the Emergency Operations Center during the recovery phase, as well being the City's liaison with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on asset recovery matters after the flood.

Also, as City Auditor, Sprague served on a leadership team which harnessed local resources to successfully retain one of Findlay's leading manufacturers - Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. - which was looking to consolidate its manufacturing operations. Cooper Tire kept its plant operations, headquarters, research and development, and distributions operations in Findlay, about 2,200 jobs in all, deciding instead, to close its Albany, Ga. facility.

Sprague also was the lead financial officer who guided the City of Findlay through its budget crisis of 2008-2009. He also successfully negotiated with the Ohio Department of Public Safety to help the City of Findlay become the first City in the state with both public safety and public works on the MARCS radio system, significantly improving the City's ability to fight the next natural disaster or emergency.

Prior to his service as City Auditor, Sprague served as treasurer for the City of Findlay. In addition to his public service record, Sprague also has private sector experience. After earning a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1996 from Duke University, Durham, N.C., Sprague joined the consulting firm of Ernst & Young where he worked as a team member before becoming a project lead on a number of high profile engagements with Fortune 500 companies. In 1999, Sprague founded his own consulting firm in Atlanta which he ran for a few years before returning to school to earn a master's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. N.C. He graduated 7th in his class. Following graduation, Sprague returned to his hometown of Findlay with a desire to pursue public service.

Sprague, who was sworn in as the 76th District State Representative on Feb. 2, 2011, serves on the Criminal Justice, State Government and Elections, and Veterans Affairs committees. He will serve the remainder of the term previously held by Cliff Hite who resigned to become a member of the Ohio Senate.

Sprague, and his wife, Amanda, reside in Findlay, with their four young sons, Cole, Davis, Graham and Tate.
