Info | JACKSON, David Sherwood, a Representative from New York; born in New York City in 1813; attended the public schools; alderman in the common council of New York City 1843-1846; engaged in mercantile pursuits; presented credentials as a Democratic Member-elect to the Thirtieth Congress and served from March 4, 1847, until April 19, 1848, when the House declared the seat vacant, the election having been contested by James Monroe; resumed his former business pursuits; again an alderman in the common council in 1856 and 1857; died in New York City January 20, 1872; interment in the Marble Cemetery.
