Blaine and served from December 4, 1876, to March 3, 1877; was not a candidate for renomination in 1876; resumed shipbuilding and also engaged in banking; died while on a visit to the home of his daughter at Ashland, Ky., July 12, 1886; interment in Congregational Cemetery, Newcastle, Maine.
