Info | LIVERMORE, Edward St. Loe, (son of Samuel Livermore and brother of Arthur Livermore), a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Portsmouth, N.H., April 5, 1762; pursued classical studies; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Concord, N.H., in 1783 and later practiced in Portsmouth, N.H.; United States district attorney 1789-1797; State solicitor for Rockingham County 1791-1793; associate justice of the State supreme court 1797-1799; naval officer for the port of Portsmouth 1799-1802; moved to Newburyport, Mass., in 1802; elected as a Federalist to the Tenth and Eleventh Congresses (March 4, 1807-March 3, 1811); was not a candidate for renomination in 1810; resumed the practice of law; moved to Boston, Mass., in 1811, thence to Zanesville, Ohio, in 1815; returned to Boston, and then moved to Tewksbury, Middlesex County, Mass., where he lived in retirement until his death there on September 15, 1832; interment in the Granary Burying Ground, Boston, Mass.
