| Info | JOSEPH L. KRAWCZYK, JR. of Bennington, Bennington County, Republican, was born in Bennington, Vermont, on December 24, 1947, and has been a lifelong resident. Occupation: US Army retired. He was educated in Bennington at Saint Francis de Sales Academy and graduated from Bennington Catholic High School in 1965. He holds a BS degree from the University of Southern Colorado and a MA from the United States Naval War College. He entered the US Army in 1967 at the age of 19 and remained for more than 27 years before retiring in 1994 at the rank of colonel. He served as a Cavalry platoon leader in the Republic of Vietnam in 1969-1970 where he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action, four Bronze Stars for valor and service, and two Purple Hearts for wounds received in combat. After his retirement, he returned to Bennington and took the position of store manager at H. Greenberg & Son, a building supply center in Bennington, where he served for more than 7 years. In 2001, he was elected to the Bennington School Board and in 2002 was selected as it's Vice-Chairman. He serves on the boards of the Better Bennington Corporation and the Bennington Economic committee and is a member of VFW Post 1332, American Legion Post 13, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, Elks Lodge 567, NRA, and the Catamount Rotary Club. He is married to Claire Krawczyk and has two daughters and two grandchildren. Religious preference: Catholic. Member of the House: 2003-2004. Home phone: 442-8613.
