InfoBrian Curran is a lifelong resident of Lynbrook, NY. Curran was elected to represent the residents of the 14th district in the New York State Assembly on November 2, 2010. His district includes parts of the towns of Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, South Hempstead and portions of Baldwin, Oceanside, East Rockaway, Malverne and North Lynbrook.

Brian graduated from Our Lady of Peace Elementary School and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1986. He received his undergraduate degree in 1990 from Wilkes University. In 1994, he earned his Juris Doctorate from CUNY Law School. Soon after graduation, he was admitted to the New York State and Connecticut Bars.

With law as his profession, Curran generated a wealth of experience in various levels of government and community matters. Upon graduating from law school, Curran was employed as legislative counsel to the New York State Assembly (1994 – 1996) where he addressed constituent concerns and drafted legislation on their behalf. During his tenure, he was involved with the construction, analysis and implementation of the New York State Budget.

As the Nassau Deputy County Attorney in the Litigation Bureau and Municipal Contracts (1996 – 2001) he gained valuable legal training and trial experience as he defended the interests of the Nassau County taxpayers as well as the Nassau County Police and Parks Departments against civil lawsuits. During his tenure at the County Attorney’s Office, Brian was appointed Assistant Village Prosecutor of Lynbrook (1998 – 2007) where he prosecuted violators of the Lynbrook Village Codes.

In 2001, Brian entered into private practice as an associate trial attorney with the forty-year-old law firm of Nicolini, Paradise, Ferretti and Sabella. Last year, Brian was named the youngest partner at the Mineola-based law firm where he specializes in civil litigation against insurance fraud. In addition to his work at Nicolini and Paradise and as Assistant Village Prosecutor, Brian served as Special Village Prosecutor for Illegal Over-Occupancies. He has successfully prosecuted over forty illegal over-occupancy cases in Lynbrook. Brian served the town of Lynbrook as its Mayor from 2007 until his election to the New York State Assembly

Involved with his community, Brian is a current member of the St. Mary’s Council – Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Ancient Order of Hibernians and Hose Company, Lynbrook Fire Department and a coach of the Lynbrook Flag Football League. For the past four years, Brian has been a member of the St. Baldrick’s Children’s Cancer Foundation where he has shaved his hair for donations that are applied to cancer research and the search for a cure for children’s cancer.
