Info | Mrs. Jeanette Lillian Fichman Reibman
Reibman, who helped to establish educational programs that annually benefit thousands of Pennsylvania students, represented the 136th Legislative District for 10 years and the 18th Senatorial District for 28, retiring in 1994.
A Democrat, Reibman was the first woman to be elected to a state Senate seat, in 1966. She had spent 10 of the previous 12 years in the state House.
She lost only two elections. She lost a 1956 re-election bid for a second term in the House, but won the seat back two years later. In 1976, during a bid for the U.S. Senate seat, she suffered a primary election loss to Bill Green.
