InfoWith 29 years in the commercial construction business, Brian Herr has seen small businesses struggle to address the challenges of today’s changing economy. Now Brian is running for the United States Senate because he believes that the key to putting America back on track is to elect leaders that approach problem solving with an open mind and a strong background in the private sector. Brian believes the dysfunction in Washington must come to an end and Massachusetts can lead the way once again!

As one of seven children to parents who emigrated from Ireland, Brian Herr brian-herr-and-wifelearned the value of family, hard work, and a dedication to public service.

Brian brings a strong record of success in municipal government. As Chairman of the Board of Selectmen in Hopkinton, Brian Herr cut the size of government, balanced the budget, and kept taxes low. Because of Brian’s leadership and management skills, S&P raised Hopkinton’s credit rating based on the town’s extremely strong economic characteristics, ongoing commercial and industrial development, and overall improved financial position during difficult economic times.

brian-herr-marathon-bioFor 25 years, Brian Herr has been active in raising money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As a Founding Member of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC), Brian has run the Boston Marathon 25 times and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for basic research. Since 1990, the DFMC has raised $60,000,000 to help in the fight against cancer.

In 2012, the leadership team at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute appointed Brian to the Barr Program Presidential Scientific Advisory Committee, which reviews current research efforts underway at the Institute and makes recommendations for new projects going forward.

Since 2011, Brian has offered political viewpoints and analysis as co-host of WCRN’s political roundtable, which airs weekly on WCRN, AM 830 in Worcester.

Brian is married to Mary F. Murphy and has five children ages 9 to 21. They live in Hopkinton, MA.
