InfoGeorge T. Kotch was born on January 2, 1942 to Regina and George Kotch in Roebling, NJ. He has been a life long resident of Burlington County.

Surrogate Kotch presently resides with his wife, Therese, in Burlington Township. George has four children, Karen Schaeffer, Kimberly Burd, Kevin Kotch, and Megan Festa. They have collectively given him ten grandchildren.

Surrogate Kotch was educated in his early years at Holy Assumption Elementary School in Roebling and thereafter, attended Trenton Catholic Boys High School. Upon graduating from Trenton Catholic, George received an academic scholarship to attend St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. In June of 1963, George graduated from St. Joseph’s with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He furthered his education and attended Rutgers University – Camden Law School on an academic scholarship. He received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1967.

Surrogate Kotch began his adult working life as an auditor for the State of New Jersey. Next, he became a sports writer and later a sports columnist for the Trenton Times Newspapers. For two years, he had the good fortune of being a high school teacher at St Anthony’s High School in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, NJ.

Surrogate Kotch knew at a very young age that his lifetime goal was to be an attorney. Law was his passion. He was able to achieve his goal in November of 1967 when he was admitted to the New Jersey Bar, in 1968 to the District of Columbia Bar and then to the United States Supreme Court. Surrogate Kotch has been actively practicing law for over 40 years, specializing in Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability, Motor Vehicle Accidents and Municipal Law, along with being a municipal prosecutor.

Surrogate Kotch is a member of the Burlington County Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers and the American Trial Lawyer Association of New Jersey. He is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Workers’ Compensation Law Attorney.

On November 7, 2006, George T. Kotch was elected as Surrogate of Burlington County.
