As a fifth generation Daytonian, Joe Roberts is running for Congress in Ohio 's 3rd District. The district includes all of Clinton and Highland Counties, most of Montgomery County, and parts of Warren County including Mason.

Joe can no longer sit by and watch his neighbors suffer with some of the highest unemployment and foreclosure rates in the country. Like many in the Dayton area, Joe is angry that Washington does not listen to the concerns of middle class families here in the Miami Valley. He believes we must reinvest in the economy to put our families back to work.

Joe grew up in a middle class family in Centerville. His mother Sandy worked third shift in customer service to support their family. His father Mike is a small business owner and a former member of the
Teamsters and the United Steelworkers Unions. Joe's stepfather Gary is the former Vice President of the Miami Valley Homebuilder's Association and his stepmother Dixie is a nurse at Hospice of Dayton.

Joe married his wife Ashley in 2009. Ashley is a graduate student at the University of Dayton studying Higher Education Administration and is an intern at Sinclair's Displaced Workers Office.

Joe has had a firsthand look at how difficult it has become for local families to send their children to college. He believes we must restructure federal financial aid to ensure that college is accessible
and affordable for everyone.

In high school, Joe worked at Kroger and was a proud member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union . He believes that all workers have the right to organize and will stand-up to ensure these rights. We must work to keep American jobs in America.

Joe attended college at the University of Alaska Fairbanks . While there, Joe lived in a three-room cabin without running water. After experiencing the hardships that many Americans face daily, Joe
believes that affordable utilities including clean water and electricity are basic human rights.

In Alaska , Joe studied Natural Resource Management , was an environmental advocate, and believes we need a sensible alternative energy policy that protects our natural resources and our national
security.

Joe is the President of a local consulting firm and a small business owner who understands that small businesses are the backbone of the economy. He will protect small businesses from mammoth corporations and over regulation from the government.

Joe worked for two years as a licensed investment advisor. He saw firsthand people lose their life savings and retirements because banks and financial institutions were reckless and gambled with people's livelihoods. Joe believes we need banking and finance reform.

Joe has had family members serve in nearly every American war dating back to the Revolution . Joe understands that the economy of Dayton is dependent upon funding for Wright-Patterson. He will work to ensure that Wright-Patt continues to be a thriving and essential base for
America's military community. He believes that our military veterans deserve the care and benefits that they were promised.

In 2008, Joe was honored to serve as a voter protection coordinator during the historic election of President Barack Obama. Joe helped to ensure that every American's voice was heard.

Recently, Joe has fought for sensible immigration reform in Ohio. Joe believes that comprehensive immigration reform is vital for the building and stabilizing of our economy and providing fair and
competitive wages to American workers.

Joe and his wife Ashley are members of Temple Beth Or in Kettering. He is an alumni brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Joe and Ashley live in Kettering with their three dogs – Hershel, Bernie, and Artie.
